Delaware Homeschooling Options:

  • General Info:
    • Three options to choose from for homeschooling.
    • No strict teacher qualifications or testing requirements.
    • Just follow the steps under your chosen option.
  • Option 1: Single-Family Homeschool
    • Definition: Educate your child at home, primarily by you or a legal guardian.
    • Steps:
      • Report Enrollment: By September 30, report your homeschool enrollment via the Delaware Department of Education website.
      • Report Attendance: By July 31, submit end-of-year attendance information online.
  • Option 2: Multi-Family Homeschool
    • Definition: Collaborate with other families to educate children primarily at home or other locations.
    • Steps:
      • Appoint a Liaison: Choose someone to handle communication with the Department of Education.
      • Report Enrollment: Same as above, report by September 30.
      • Report Attendance: Submit end-of-year attendance by July 31.
  • Option 3: Single-Family Homeschool with Local School District Coordination
    • Definition: Educate your child at home with coordination from your local school district.
    • Steps:
      • Contact Superintendent: Get written approval for your homeschooling plan.
      • Report Enrollment: Follow the same September 30 reporting process.
      • Teach Public School Subjects: Ensure you cover the subjects taught in public schools.
      • Report Attendance: Submit attendance info by July 31.
